Friars Court is one of my favourite places in the whole of the Cotswolds no sorry that should have been the World! It is owned by my very good friends the Willmers and has been in their family since 1917. Made traditionally from Cotswold stone the house has stood on its moated site, close to the River Thames, for over 300 years.

Previous to the house being built there, friars would have offered rest and refreshment to the weary medieval traveller, dated back to 1149 when the Monastic Knights of St. John founded the first 'Hospitallery' in Oxfordshire.

Today Friars Court is open exclusively to private groups and the Willmers pride themselves on continuing with this ancient tradition of personal care and service.
"enjoy a relaxing time
in the country"
Enjoy the tranquillity of Friars Court by either relaxing in the Garden Room's comfortable armchairs wander the gardens at your own pace. With circular walks around the four acres of semi-moated gardens there is plenty to see. Crossing the Moat Bridge by the twin Yew Arch or by following the level path down to the South Terrace and round to the Moat Ponds (ideal for wheelchair users).
Alternatively take a gentle stroll, and discover the hidden Secret Garden or follow your noses to the fragrant Herb Garden. There are a variety of unusual features to be found dotted around the grounds!
